Consumer is Our Superstar
"Airnet, an upcoming brand promises great value to its customers. Raj Tarani, managing director, Airnet Mobiles, talks about the company’s strategy for success" Mukesh Singh

 Airnet is a relatively new brand in India. How do you plan to succeed in such a competitive market?

We are aware that we have entered an already congested telecom market. Airnet is providing value for money handsets rich in features. Dependency on loyal and dedicated channel partners, focus on C & D class towns and cities, and relentless pursuit to continuously feed new and unique offerings to our customers shall make us stand apart and create a niche for brand Airnet.

Is there any specific customer base that you are targeting at? How important is the rural segment in your strategy?

Our major focus is on low income strata and first time users who dream to own a mobile, but is constrained by budgetary limitations. Airnet is well poised to fulfill the dreams of all such consumers by offering a good quality phone with 12 months warranty and after sales support at a very affordable price. We are spending sufficient time to feel and understand the needs of rural India. Our aim is to make these new aspiring consumers proud owners of a product that offers real value to them. For us, rural areas personify India’s true image. All our strategies of business are made keeping in mind rural consumers.

How do you plan to promote your brand?

We believe that word of mouth publicity is the best promotion. We are already starting to reap benefits of our existing channel partners recommending others to join the club “Airnet”. Satisfied customers also tell friends and family members about their enriching experience with the company’s mobiles.

Do you plan to rope in any superstar or cricketer to endorse your brand?

Our customer is our superstar… We are currently more focused on understanding and fulfilling the needs of our superstars – be it looks, battery back up, sound quality or ease of operation.

What measures would you take to ensure good after sales service & customer satisfaction?

We have a two-tier system of after sales service. We have tied up with a third party service provider. Very soon we would be opening our own service centers in all big and small towns across the country. There is special focus on making all the spares and softwares available before the launch of any model. We have a special focus on the service function.

How has the response been to your product so far? Any plans to set up a manufacturing facility in India?

It’s just the beginning and the response has been overwhelming. Our phones are available in 13 states. This is good enough for a three month old toddler. With regard to manufacturing, we will take an appropriate decision at an appropriate time.
